Getting there
Old City Falls sits inside the Old City Falls Nature Preserve, a town park of Strafford in the Upper Valley. From I-89 Exit 2 in Sharon, follow VT 132 east about seven miles over the mountain to South Strafford, then turn left toward Strafford village; from the village common head about half a mile toward Tunbridge and turn right onto Old City Falls Road, opposite the old tennis courts. Continue uphill and turn left onto the preserve road just past the bridge. The picnic area at the top has tables, a shelter, and a restroom; from there a short footpath descends steeply through a hemlock ravine to the base of the forty-foot two-tier falls. The pools below the falls are deep enough for wading or a quick cool-off. Access is free. The preserve is gated in the off-season, but visitors can park outside the gate and walk in.
