Getting there
Sawyer Brook Falls is a small tiered cascade on Sawyer Brook in Mendon, Rutland County, in the hills east of Rutland city. It is and does not carry a canonical entry in the main Vermont waterfall references; the surrounding banks are largely private or Green Mountain National Forest boundary country. Expect a short roadside look from a allowed shoulder and a brief scramble to the brook where public access exists. The cascade runs best in spring and within a day or two of rain. For a developed Rutland County stop, the Falls of Lana at Silver Lake State Park in Leicester and Bomoseen State Park beach on Lake Bomoseen are the area's stronger choices.
