Getting there
South Branch Falls is a small cascade on the South Branch of the Middlebury River in Ripton, Addison County, in the Green Mountain National Forest. It is and does not carry a canonical entry in the main Vermont waterfall references. The road network here crosses GMNF land and private parcels, so expect a short roadside look from a allowed shoulder and respect any posted boundaries. The cascade runs best in spring and within a day or two of rain. For a real Ripton-area stop, the Robert Frost Interpretive Trail off VT 125 is a pleasant short walk, and Texas Falls farther east on VT 125 is a stronger scenic destination.
