Getting there
State Prison Hollow Falls is a small cascade on a brook in the hills of Starksboro, Addison County, in the Green Mountain foothills west of Lincoln Gap. The name comes from the local Hollow, not from any current facility. It is and does not carry a canonical entry in the main Vermont waterfall references; the approach crosses a mix of GMNF boundary country and private land. Expect an informal path from a allowed shoulder, loose footing, and no signage. Park fully clear of the travel lane, respect posted boundaries, and turn back if the approach feels unsafe. For a reliable Addison County swim, Bartlett Falls and Circle Current on the New Haven River along Lincoln Road are the stronger destinations.
