Getting there
Sterling Falls is the main drop inside the Sterling Falls Gorge Natural Area in Stowe, on Sterling Brook where it cuts a narrow gorge before joining the Lamoille drainage. From VT 100 north of Stowe village, turn onto West Hill Road and follow Sterling Gorge Road to the natural-area parking at the end. A moderate trail drops close to the water and follows the gorge lip past several stacked cascades and pools before reaching the main falls. The trail is free and maintained by a local nonprofit. It is a scenic stop, not a reliable swim -- pools are small, the rock is consistently slick, and local notices flag hazardous conditions along the cliff edges. this guide is almost certainly the same feature as sterling-gorge-falls and possibly sterling-brook-cascade, and should be consolidated in the taxonomy pass.
