Getting there
Stevens Branch Falls is a short drop on the Stevens Branch of the Winooski River in the city of Barre, Washington County. The Stevens Branch runs through the heart of Barre's industrial corridor, and this feature is a quick roadside or sidewalk stop rather than a destination; most of the banks are private, retained by walls, or sit directly next to active roadway. This is not a swim -- the current over the drop is steady, and the stone walls around the channel are not built for climbing. Park in a legal downtown Barre space and walk to the overlook. For a real Washington County stop, the Wrightsville Reservoir day-use in Montpelier and Waterbury Center State Park on the Waterbury Reservoir are the area's stronger swims.
