Getting there
Swanton Falls is the dam-affected drop on the Missisquoi River at Swanton Village in Franklin County. A hydro installation controls flow at the dam, so the drop can look substantial on one visit and run thin on the next. This is a viewing-only stop from the public streets and bridge in Swanton village, not a swim -- the river above and below carries real current and the utility property is fenced. Park in village on-street or municipal parking and walk to the bridge overlook. For a real Franklin County swim, Lake Carmi State Park beach in Enosburg Falls and Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge in Swanton proper are the area's developed options.
