Getting there
Tolman Brook Cascades is a set of small cascades on Tolman Brook in Granby, Essex County, in the deep Northeast Kingdom east of Groton State Forest. This is remote country -- the nearest villages are small, there is no cell coverage in much of the corridor, and road maintenance is limited. The cascades are and not a canonical destination; the approach is an informal path from a allowed pull-off across a mix of public and private land. Expect loose footing, wet rock, and no signage. The brook runs best in spring and within a day or two of rain. For a developed Essex County stop, Brighton State Park beach on Island Pond is the nearest serviced swim.
