Getting there
Upper Tubs is the companion feature to The Tubs, a run of small potholes and drops on a Shaftsbury-area brook in Bennington County. Like the lower Tubs entry in this guide, surrounding banks are largely private, the cascades are, and the pools in the potholes are small, cold, and flow-dependent. Expect a brief roadside look from a allowed shoulder and a short scramble where public access exists. This is not a destination swim. For a developed Bennington County stop, Lake Shaftsbury State Park off US 7A and the Batten Kill pull-offs along VT 7A in Arlington and Sunderland are the stronger choices.
